Fresh colours for the sound
Music is an ongoing expansion of the sound zone. And hardly any orchestra takes more pleasure in discovering new musical worlds and understanding music as a pleasurable laboratory than the Wiener Symphoniker.
Concert for the marathon
It is a truism that music can be a top-class sport. In the 25-26 season, we are taking it particularly seriously and inviting musical participants of the Vienna City Marathon to make music with us on the day before the 42-kilometre run. The marathon runner and conductor Tobias Wögerer will - after plenty of training - conduct a perfect warm-up programme with works by Strauss, Schubert, Suppé and Lehár with selected applicants and start the three-quarter time marathon at the Musikverein.
Wiener Symphoniker X K-Pop
This season, the Wiener Symphoniker will once again be happy to stimulate curiosity when they travel acoustically to South Korea and fuse the colourful and dazzling world of K-pop with the European orchestral tradition.
Primavera da Vienna
In spring 2026, the Wiener Symphoniker will pack their bags again and travel to Trieste, where they will take up residence in the beautiful Politeama Rossetti and enjoy the musical dolce vita together with their audience.
Hör-Bar
Our chief conductor is opening his own sound laboratory this year: Petr Popelka will listen to his favourite works together with musicians from the orchestra in an intimate setting in the Hör-Bar of the Gläserner Saal at the Musikverein, dissecting and interpreting them in front of everyone. The audience sits right in the middle of it all and can discuss it afterwards at the Musikverein bar: an intimate deep dive into classical music.

Interview with Petr Popelka
In his second season as chief conductor, Petr Popelka conducts over 60 concerts and opera performances, including highlights such as the 125th anniversary concert, the new production of Strauss' ‘Die Fledermaus’ and his new Hör-Bar. Gustav Mahler accompanies him intensively throughout the season.
EVERY YEAR A PLEASURE
In addition to many new colours, the traditional highlights of every Wiener Symphoniker season are on the programme for 2025-26:
- This year's Viennese Advent in St Stephen's Cathedral with Petr Popelka has the motto ‘Bohemian Christmas’.
- At the Cinema:Sound concert, we welcome Patrick Doyle with his film music on the podium in the Golden Hall of the Musikverein.
- The Beisl concerts take us to Vienna Ottakring in spring, where our ensembles invite you to a musical Beisl-hopping.
- The Prater Picnic attracts families and friends to the Giant Ferris Wheel to ring in the summer holidays with a big open-air concert.
