Every concert a celebration

From Bach to Bruckner, from Mozart to Mendelssohn Bartholdy: every concert is a celebration of music! The subscription cycle ‘Festive Concerts’ offers you selected walks through music history on four evenings.

Traditionally, the Wiener Symphoniker perform Johann Sebastian Bach's Christmas Oratorio during Advent, this time interpreted by early music expert Fabio Biondi. The Japanese composer and cellist Hideo Saito brought Bach into the 20th century when he arranged the Chaconne from Partita No. 2. It forms the prologue to Shostakovich's 7th Symphony conducted by Lorenzo Viotti.

The Mozart evening with Rudolf Buchbinder, honorary member of the Konzerthaus, who will conduct the Wiener Symphoniker from the piano, is a Konzerthaus home performance. The Principal Guest Conductor, Marie Jacquot, will conduct Bruckner's 7th Symphony and, together with Bomsori, will elevate Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy's Violin Concerto to a very special celebration of music-making.
