Info
The coming 2019-20 season will be the sixth and last for Philippe Jordan as Music Director of the Wiener Symphoniker. In the course of this, the incoming director of music of the Vienna State Opera will focus, inter alia, on Brahms. “Actually, among all those Bs – Bach, Beethoven, Bruckner, Berlioz – there was still one B missing”, Jordan ironically summed up when introducing the season programme. But then he added earnestly: “This is because I had believed the Wiener Symphoniker and Brahms would need a break from each other”. However, this cooling phase to avoid routine will come to a loud end in the coming season. And so Wiener Symphoniker will perform all four of Brahms’ Symphonies, first at the Bregenz Festival and then at the Vienna Musikverein concert hall. This will be a musical exclamation mark right at the beginning of the season!
