Two great artists – and darlings of the Viennese audience – will take centre stage in this concert: Vladimir Fedoseyev, principal conductor of the Wiener Symphoniker between 1997 and 2004, can be seen again in the current season with his former Orchestra in the Golden Hall of the Musikverein concert building: Since his debut in 1988, he has given almost 400 concerts with the Orchestra. On the other hand, the Orchestra archives list just under 40 joint appearances with the soloist of the two concerts, the violinist Julian Rachlin. Together, they will dedicate themselves to Tchaikovsky’s lyrical Violin Concerto. The proven Tchaikovsky expert Fedoseyev will surround the solo concerto with excerpts from the opera “Eugene Onegin” and another popular musical pillar of the Russian repertoire: Modest Mussorgsky’s “Pictures at an Exhibition”.
