Primavera da Vienna The Spring Festival From The Wiener Symphoniker

Triest · Politeama Rossetti
Sujet Primavera da Vienna: gemalte Elemente aus Triest und Wien

To live for opera and operetta

Vissi d’arte – “I lived for art, I offered song to the stars and the heavens“, sings Floria Tosca in Act II of Puccini’s opera, just before she resolves to wrest her lover Cavaradossi’s freedom from the despot Scarpia – by whatever means necessary. This famous aria will be performed by soprano Krassimira Stoyanova as the emotional highlight of a gala concert featuring arias, duets, and orchestral works by Giacomo Puccini and Franz Lehár, often referred to as the “Puccini of operetta.” The Trieste audience can look forward to both earthly and heavenly songs performed by opera stars – with tenor Francesco Meli joining Stoyanova on stage. Among the program highlights are the beloved Vilja Song from Lehár’s operetta The Merry Widow, as well as the waltz Ball Sirens from the same work. The orchestra will also present instrumental gems such as Puccini’s precociously lush Preludio Sinfonico.
