21. March 2025

The Wiener Symphoniker will be performing three concerts in three different formats at the Wiener Konzerthaus from 21 to 23 March 2025 under the direction of their chief conductor Petr Popelka. The orchestra will then take up its first residency at the National Centre for Performing Arts in Beijing.
The popular Fridays@7 series kicks off the evening in the Great Hall with soprano Hera Hyesang Park and works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, including the aria for soprano and orchestra Bella mia fiamma, addio - Resta, o cara. The weekend will then be heralded in the Great Foyer in a relaxed atmosphere: Petr Popelka on double bass with our ensemble kammerfunk will bring the evening to a musical close.
After the matinee on Sunday morning, which includes Mozart and Mahler's Fourth Symphony on the programme, the Wiener Symphoniker will be part of the new event format konzerthaus.nachts in the late evening, which combines classical music with clubbing. In the first part, Mozart's Prague Symphony can be heard in the Great Hall, followed by a celebration of the diversity of music in the Schubert Hall with drinks and the beats of Kein Sonntag ohne Techno.
After the concerts in Vienna, the Wiener Symphoniker and Petr Popelka will continue on to Beijing for their first residency at the National Centre for Performing Arts. The programme includes five concerts with a broad cast of soloists performing works by Richard Wagner, Giuseppe Verdi, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Gustav Mahler, Richard and Johann Strauss. In addition to the concerts, masterclasses for students of the China Conservatory of Music will be offered, including a masterclass with chief conductor Petr Popelka. Chamber music concerts at selected sights in the city round off the residency.
