Barbara Rett presents seven Sunday matinees by the Vienna Symphony Orchestra in the usual charming way, which bring out the versatility of the orchestra. Music director Andrés Orozco-Estrada, together with his orchestra, reconstructs the program of the historical academy that Beethoven organized on November 29, 1814 on the occasion of the opening of the Congress of Vienna. Particularly popular works such as Dvořák's Symphony From the New World, Strauss’s tone poem Also sprach Zarathustra or Stravinski’s second Firebird Suite let the (late) romantic orchestral sound shine. Prominent instrumentalists such as Gautier Capuçon, Gidon Kremer and Martin Grubinger present modern and contemporary solo concerts in which they can fully demonstrate their virtuosity.
