Now in its fourth season, Fridays@7 is an indispensible part of the musical life of Vienna. Listeners will delight in these 7pm concerts at the Wiener Konzerthaus. The fresh, concise programmes are an amalgam of high artistic expectations and opportunities to meet and greet.
These entertaining programmes take place without intermission. Even the non-nightowls in the audience are welcome to attend the post-concert gatherings in the Grand Foyer, where they can experience the evening’s featured artists and ensembles from the ranks of the Wiener Symphoniker in an unconventional and casual setting.
The success of these concerts has inspired more and more artists to come up with new ideas for future programmes. As a result, the Wiener Singakademie will take part in post-concert activities for the first time, and tenor Michael Schade will meet up with the Viennese Symphonic Schrammel Quintet. In addition to masterpieces of the repertoire, audiences can expect the first half of the programme to contain new surprises: You will hear Darius Milhaud’s score to the surrealist ballet, Le boeuf sur le toit. Inspired by Brazilian folklore, Vasily Petrenko will present this work for violin and orchestra with the young, highly touted Emmanuel Tjeknavorian as violin soloist.
