Info
With her fascinating playing, Sol Gabetta creates "phrases of immense concentration, of power and clarity, supported by a sound ideal that seeks not only beauty but life", according to one critic. The Argentinian-French cellist of Russian heritage describes herself as a product of the strict Russian cello school. Celebrated equally by press and public, the charismatic instrumentalist is famous for her exceptional flexibility in style and repertoire. Gabetta's recording of Shostakovich's Second Cello Concerto opened the doors to her international career. After her celebrated performance with the Wiener Symphoniker in spring 2015, she now presents the composer's First Cello Concerto, which he dedicated to his friend Mstislav Rostropovich. Please note: This concert is presented as part of a cooperation between the Wiener Symphoniker and the Wiener Konzerthaus Society.
