Info
"Mazzola knew how to make the most of the quite special charm of the Festival's house orchestra. Thundering applause", wrote the Schwäbische Zeitung of Enrique Mazzola's last concert with the Wiener Symphoniker during the 70th Bregenz Festival. Here in the Golden Hall, as there, the vivacious Italian has chosen a thoroughly Italian programme. The evening will be heralded in spirited style with Mendelssohn's famous "Italian" Symphony No. 4. This will be followed by the southern flair of the symphonic poems "Fontane di Roma" ("Roman Fountain") and "Pini di Roma" ("Pines of Rome") by Ottorino Respighi, the most important exponent of the new Italian instrumental music.
