Info
The “Klassik Hits” (“Classical Music Hits”) family concerts have long been a tradition in the Golden Hall of the Musikverein Wien. There, the Wiener Symphoniker performs major works of the classical repertoire, whilst Marko Simsa moderates with exciting facts and entertaining anecdotes. This is music entertainment and enjoyment for all between the age of 11 and 99! This year, the Orchestra will present Felix Mendelssohn’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream under the direction of Kirill Karabits, musical director of the German National Theatre and the Staatskapelle Weimar and also principal conductor of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra. Mainly known for its Wedding March, Mendelssohn’s composition is based on William Shakespeare’s eponymous (romantic) comedy. On a summer night in a forest outside Athens, several plots are woven into a dense network of dreams.
