Info
Since Philippe Jordan’s start during the 2014-15 season, in addition to the seasonal coming and going of notable virtuosi, an inter-cycle approach with artists in residence has been established. The objective was to develop new artistic impulses and long-term partnerships by making music together on an intensified scale. With the brothers Renaud and Gautier Capuçon, the pianists Pierre-Laurent Aimard and Jean-Yves Thibaudet and the exceptional German violinist Julia Fischer, the guest list so far reads like a Who is Who of the first choice of international musical life. In 2018-19, another prominent name will be added, namely the Danish violinist Nikolaj Szeps-Znaider whom the Austrian daily newspaper DIE PRESSE once described as “the best violinist in the world”. Unlike his predecessors, however, during his residence comprising a total of 14 dates, Szeps-Znaider will not only appear as a soloist but will also conduct the orchestra. You can even hear him as a chamber musician at Fridays@7: After the concert in the Large Hall where he will play Beethoven’s Romance for Violin and Orchestra with the orchestra under the direction of Philippe Jordan, he will also appear at the close in the Grand Foyer, along with the Villarmé Quartet.
