Info
The critics celebrated the release of Beethoven’s symphonies as evidence of how Jordan “achieves the greatest possible harmony with the members of the Wiener Symphoniker and simultaneously encourages the musicians to play in a particularly committed and differentiated manner”. On the occasion of the anniversary celebrations of the Beethoven year 2020, there will now be an opportunity to hear live once again Symphonies No. 5 and No. 6 with Jordan and the Wiener Symphoniker. The first part of the concert will also present the Piano Concerto No. 4 in G major, which was created at the same time as Symphony No. 6 in 1805. It is a work of maturity, a culmination of the genre in Beethoven’s oeuvre and of the whole early 19th century. While Beethoven’s first three concertos more or less still follow Mozart, his Piano Concerto No. 4 in G major goes further and already represents the spirit of the symphony. There, the soloist and the orchestra are not only equal, they are fused into one entity; virtuosity, although abundant in Piano Concerto No. 4, loses its intrinsic value and is integrated into the symphonic context. There are special catering packages available for the 1h-long interval of the concert. For details contact Restaurant Weinzirl at info@weinzirl.at or +43 1 5125550.
