Beisl, neighborhoods, picnic lawns – the Wiener Symphoniker bring music to every corner
The Wiener Symphoniker are truly Vienna’s orchestra – not only are the Musikverein, the Konzerthaus, and the MusikTheater an der Wien their living rooms, but so is the entire city! The orchestra listens closely to the soundtrack of Austria’s capital and brings music to every part of it.
This May, the Wiener Symphoniker musicians once again head out in chamber music formations and cozy atmospheres to the city’s Beisln – this year in the 16th district. Each Ottakring venue hosts three musical sets, and guests can change pubs freely between performances. The variety of musical styles and repertoire never fails to delight the audience.
The Grätzl concert will once again pitch its tent at the Verkehrsmuseum Remise, and of course, the last day of school will be celebrated as always with the grand Prater Picnic directly under the Giant Ferris Wheel – with a free open-air concert for all of Vienna! The annual Cinema:Sound film music concert in January features a special guest: Patrick Doyle. The celebrated composer will conduct his own music from films such as Harry Potter, Thor, and Cinderella at the Musikverein.
For over 10 years, Fridays@7 has been the ideal way to kick off the weekend: a sharp, energetic concert in the Great Hall of the Wiener Konzerthaus, followed by a relaxed wind-down in the foyer with ensembles from the Wiener Symphoniker.
The new inclusive concert format Im Klang berührt is designed for audiences with and without disabilities, with Schubert’s Symphony in C major at its core. Moreover Chief Conductor Petr Popelka is launching a brand-new format in the Hör-Bar at the Gläserner Saal of the Musikverein, where he and his musical guests dive into selected works in informal, intimate conversations.
