»Knowledge empowers – music«
The popular chamber music series of the Wiener Symphoniker will once again accompany the exhibitions at the Wien Museum this year: Each event features an exclusive introduction to the current exhibitions, crowned by a concert.
To mark the anniversary of the street newspaper Augustin, this year’s theme turns to poverty and survival. Just in time for the Backhendlzeit, the Symphonisches Schrammelquintett takes a musical trip to Nußdorf to celebrate life with the Ochsenmenuett. In a homage to the Danube Island, the Acht Cellisten der Wiener Symphoniker present Austropop arrangements alongside feel-good music by Jacques Offenbach. Knowledge for all was the mission behind Otto Neurath’s pictograms – and flutist Stefan Tomaschitz picks up that thread with music for all, featuring works by Carl Frühling and Erwin Schulhoff. The HABE-Quartett searches for musical colors to illustrate the exhibition on Egon Schiele. And for the grand finale, South American communities take center stage, as the Thatiana Gomes Trio and The Hip Strings celebrate pure joy for life.
