Musical fun and enjoyment for everyone aged 11 to 99! The “Klassik Hits" family concerts in the Golden Hall of the Vienna Musikverein have long become a beloved tradition: There, the Wiener Symphoniker performs great works of the classical repertoire, whilst presenter Marko Simsa provides the audience with insights into the musical events through exciting facts and entertaining anecdotes. Now, for the first time, focus will be on the rich treasures of orchestral Christmas literature. Reinforced by the Singverein, Simsa and the Orchestra under the direction of Johannes Wildner will present excerpts from well-known and popular works, such as J. S. Bach’s Christmas Oratorio, Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel, or Tchaikovsky's overture to the nutcracker.
You May Sing Along
In the 2nd half of this pre-Christmas concert the audience will be invited to sing together. A "warm up" will take place with Johannes Prinz, the choirmaster of the Wiener Singverein, before the popular yuletide gospels "Amen" and "Mary Had a Baby" will be sung. The crowning finale will be Handel's Hallelujah.
This special Christmas edition of "Klassik Hits" provides an atmospheric as varied concert experience guaranteeing pre-Christmas feelings for all the family.
