Info
The international breakthrough for the Russian-American pianist Kirill Gerstein came as early as 2010 when he won the Gilmore Artist Award. The highly endowed Award is presented to exceptional pianists after an extended period of observation of their concert performances. The New York Times described Gerstein as “one of the most accomplished pianists of his generation”. He started his training at Berklee College of Music in Boston as the youngest student of jazz piano at the age of only 14. Later on, the versatile musician with many talents and interests opted for classical music. Since his first appearance in Poland at the tender age of 11, Mozart’s piano concertos have always accompanied him. Another exceptional talent of the young generation will be seen conducting the Wiener Symphoniker during the performance of Mozart’s Piano Concerto in D minor: Lahav Shani, the principal guest conductor of the Orchestra.Furthermore, Shani will dedicate himself to the Third Symphony by Johannes Brahms and the symphonic poem Les préludes by Franz Liszt.
