Kavakos / Bach, Bruckner

Info
For some years now, the exceptional Greek musician Leonidas Kavakos has been an always welcome guest with the Wiener Symphoniker. He initially achieved world fame as a violinist after winning the Sibelius Prize in 1985 and the Paganini Prize in 1988. However, in recent years he has also demonstrated his talent for conducting – to great acclaim. It is Kavakos’s “absolute will to make music”, as a German critic once formulated it, that makes his concerts such intense experiences. Kavakos immerses himself in the score and the orchestra; he seems to be playing along, as if sitting at the first desk and leading the strings. Here he can be heard with Johann Sebastian Bach’s Violin Concerto in D minor and what is perhaps Anton Bruckner’s most popular work, the Symphony No. 4 “Romantic”.
