Festive evenings at the Wiener Konzerthaus
In the Festkonzerte subscription, every concert is a festive event. A top-class ensemble led by conductor Alessandro De Marchi will perform Johann Sebastian Bach’s Christmas Oratorio during the Advent season. In addition, three further conductors present programmes offering strikingly different perspectives on the festive concerts.
The new Artistic Partner of the Wiener Symphoniker, Hong Kong–born conductor Elim Chan, invites audiences on an enchanting journey through the fairytale worlds of Sofia Gubaidulina, Alfred Schnittke and Sergei Prokofiev. The young and charismatic conductor Patrick Hahn brings to life Rachmaninov’s Symphony No. 3 alongside Alexander Mossolov’s vivid Iron Foundry and Lili Boulanger’s Psalm 130.
A further highlight is the solemn Song of the Night, Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 7, for which former Chief Conductor of the Wiener Symphoniker Philippe Jordan returns to the podium at the Wiener Konzerthaus.
