MUSIC KNOWS NO BOUNDARIES
The Wiener Symphoniker bring music to the people! Under the motto Im Klang berührt, conductor Elim Chan demonstrates that music always resonates deeply - with everyone who hears and feels it. Her inclusive concert tells the fairytale story of Cinderella through the music of Sergei Prokofiev.
The popular family concert series also opens ears, with a range of presenters setting out in search of the secrets of sound. This season features everything from different kinds of “superstar music” to the mysteries of Edward Elgar’s Enigma Variations. For children aged eight and above, the Wiener Symphoniker also offer musical workshops at the Wien Museum.
Once again this year, the orchestra goes on the road, making visits to locations including the Atzgersdorf and Margareten care homes. When people are no longer able to come to the concerts, the Wiener Symphoniker bring the concerts to them. A special Christmas concert for families will take place at the Stadtsaal Wien, in cooperation with Edition5HAUS and ASAGAN.
For the sixth time, the Wiener Symphoniker are hosting WSY Talent, their competition for young musicians, culminating in a concert featuring the winners together with the orchestra. The competition seeks out and supports emerging musical talent from across Austria. This year, young performers from the categories of string instruments and harp will take part. The final concert will be conducted by Peter Schreiber and, as in previous years, is held in cooperation with the youth music competition prima la musica.
