Wien 29. May 2026

On July 1 and 2, the Wiener Symphoniker will kick off the summer holidays with their open-air concert in the Prater. As the Donauinselfest has been moved to a different date, this year’s concerts will already take place on Wednesday and Thursday before the start of the holidays. On the Kaiserwiese, audiences can look forward to a colorful program of classical music, pop, and jazz for the whole family.

In the fifth edition of the Prater Picnic, Holly Hyun Choe will take the conductor’s podium and invite audiences to enjoy, among other highlights, the delicately plucked strings of Leroy Anderson’s Plink, Plank, Plunk! and the majestic sounds of the finale of Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4.

Among the evening’s special guests are Austrian soprano Ilia Staple and tenor Rolando Villazón, performing excerpts from Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore, Tesori’s The Girl in 14G, and Nino Rota’s love theme from the film La Strada

Austrian singer-songwriter Teodora Špirić, also known as Teya, will showcase her pop songs, performing tracks including Talk That Talk and Girls like Girls. In addition, beloved musical melodies from Leonard Bernstein’s West Side Story and Frederick Loewe’s My Fair Lady will round off the musical summer evening.

With the Prater Picnic, the Wiener Symphoniker celebrate the beginning of summer and the opening of Kultursommer Wien together with families across Vienna. Admission is free!

The event has been certified as an EcoEvent by the City of Vienna.
