Info
The Piano Concert E flat, K. 449 shows distinct differences in the formal structure Mozart partly noted personally: “This is a concert of a very particular character and written rather for small than for large orchestra…”. The work belongs to the few Viennese concerts Mozart did not expressively write for himself; just as K. 453 it was intended for his student Barbara Ployer, a highly talented pianist. In the lent of the year 1784 Mozart gave among others three academies in the private hall of the Trattnerhof in the avenue called Graben. For the first academy he uses an already completed concert, namely the piano concert K. 449. For the two following academies, however, new works are composed: the piano concerts in B flat, K. 450 and in D, K. 451.
