Info
Music competitions have their quirks. How feasible is it to evaluate artistic performances under circumstances more reminiscent of a sporting contest? In the case of Daniil Trifonov, nevertheless, the international juries were in rare agreement. His triumph at the 2011 Tchaikovsky Competition catapulted him to stardom in the pianist cosmos. “He has everything and more” enthused Martha Argerich after the competition. “I’ve never heard anything like it.” After a long wait since his last appearance in 2014, we are now welcoming him back to the Wiener Symphoniker. With him he brings Schumann’s Piano Concerto, which has become a byword for the Romantic piano concerto.
