Info
Colombian conductor Andrés Orozco-Estrada celebrated his debut with the Wiener Symphoniker at the age of 28. Ten years later the music director of the hr-Sinfonieorchester Frankfurt, first guest conductor of the London Philharmonic Orchestra and one of the most sought-after conductors of his generation returns to the podium of the Vienna's tradition-steeped orchestra. He will conduct Richard Strauss's single-movement work "Tod und Verklärung" (Death and Transfiguration) – the composer's third symphonic poem after Macbeth and Don Juan. With powerful voices and depth of expression, soprano Marina Rebeka, mezzo-soprano Margarita Gritskova, tenor mario Zeffiri (who replaced Joel Prieto) and baritone Luca Pisaroni will sing Rossini's shining masterpiece "Stabat Mater", evoking the suffering of the Lady of Sorrows, Mary in mourning for the crucified Christ. They will be supported by the Musikverein's "house choir", the Wiener Singverein.
