Info
A fascinating juxtaposition of two composers of the 20th Century, who are even in direct relation to each other, offers this concert in the Kammerkonzerte Cycle of the Wiener Symphoniker. Under the direction of Gergely Sugár, hornist of the orchestra, John Adams' Chamber Symphony is performed for the first time at the Wiener Symphoniker. Adams studied composition with Leon Kirchner early in his career, a pupil of Arnold Schoenberg. His Chamber Symphony No. 1 for 15 solo instruments in turn marks the end of an evening that proves what outstanding symphonies are also available for chamber music ensembles.
