Info
In the midst of roaring outbidding logic, crumbling promises of growth and multi-channel overstraining, there are some very long and dense listening experiences that emerge increasingly within the art world of music, which are just like tiny, delicate, ephemeral and almost evanescent new forms. “Wien Modern 2019” is committed to freeing the notion of growth a little from the torpor into which it has fallen due to permanent use in business, urban planning and politics. In October/November 2019, you will discover the most diverse forms of maximalism and minimalism throughout Vienna, from processing a volcanic eruption through to the opportunity to hear the grass growing. This year, the Wiener Symphoniker will again contribute a programme with an Austrian premiere: Péter Eötvös’s large-dimensioned Multiversum was created for the composer’s residence at the Elbphilharmonie concert hall in Hamburg and is dedicated to the organist Iveta Apkalna who will also take on the role of the soloist here.
