Info
It’s been nearly four years since Juraj Valcuha enjoyed his debut with the Wiener Symphoniker. Now at last he returns to the podium. That this reunion has taken so long is down to the rapid rise to international success of the Slovakian conductor that has seen him in front of orchestras including the Berliner Philharmoniker, Concertgebouw and New York Philharmonic. In addition to rarely performed works by Sergei Prokofiev, the programme features Sergei Rachmaninov’s virtuosic Third Piano Concerto. It will be interpreted by Alexander Gavrylyuk, winner of the Arthur Rubinstein Competition 2005 and celebrated by the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf as one of the “greatest discoveries of the last decade”.
