A matinee conducted by Marin Alsop begins with music by the American composer Samuel Barber and culminates in Antonin Dvořák’s journey to the New World as expressed symphonically in his Symphony No. 9. Denis Kozhukhin, the freshly crowned first prize winner at the Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels, plays Sergei Prokofiev’s Second Piano Concerto.
