Wiener Konzerthaus, Great Hall

The one everyone wants: Pablo Heras-Casado. Chosen by magazine Musical America as their "Conductor of 2014", Herras-Casado is one of the most exciting, versatile and in-demand conductors of his generation. That the Wiener Symponiker have managed, despite fierce competition from Berlin, London and New York, to secure him for several concerts this season clearly proves there is positive chemistry between orchestra and conductor. After the traditional New Year's concerts he will now lead the no less traditional concerts with their high quality line-up to close the season. Those expecting a placid evening will leave disappointed: the irascible Storm Fantasy by Tchaikovsky, Dvorak's dramatic 7th Symphony and Liszt's expressively sentimental 2nd Piano Concerto - with the wonderful Alice Sara Ott as soloist - will bring this year's season to a spirited finale.

Please note: This concert is presented as part of a cooperation between the Wiener Symphoniker and the Wiener Konzerthaus Society.
